Ik schreef al vaker over Kevin Kelly. Zijn grootste kwaliteit is denk ik de optimistische ondertoon van zijn ideeën. Daarom schrok ik in de eerste instantie ook toen ik hem het volgende hoorde zeggen in: Conversations with Tyler, waarin hij vertelt over zijn reizen.
“I think for me, the overwhelming lesson about those kinds of travel for me has been how — what’s the word I want? Basically, most people in the world are fairly racist, sexist, suspicious of strangers, and stuff.”
Nogal een statement, maar waarschijnlijk wel waar.
Maar Kevin Kelly zou Kevin Kelly niet zijn als hij daar direct achteraan het volgende zei:
“Relative to the rest of the world, the US is doing pretty good.”
Ik zei toch dat ie een optimist was.
